Fifa has announced that revenue from the 2026 World Cup surpassed its own projections, reaching around $15bn. Ticket sales and hospitality reportedly accounted for about $5bn of that total. Fifa's income from matchgoers was roughly five times higher than at the 2022 tournament in Qatar, which brought in $929m. The 2026 edition was held across the United States, Canada and Mexico and added 40 matches to the schedule. Average ticket and hospitality takings per match rose from about $14.5m to about $48m. The final tally is still being calculated.
