Hull City midfielder Matt Crooks and Aston Villa defender Matty Cash have become the first players to be handed a one-match suspension for reaching five yellow cards in the 2025-26 Premier League season. Each player's accumulation of cautions means they will miss their club's next league fixture. The ban is the first of the campaign under the Premier League's yellow card rule.
Why it mattersHull City, 10th on 11 points after nine games, may now be without Crooks, a player in the 85th percentile for tackles among league midfielders, for their next fixture.
