Uefa and its allies are reportedly close to settling on a candidate to stand against Gianni Infantino in the Fifa election, with a decision possibly coming as soon as next week. Candidates must confirm their candidacy by 18 November, and backers say talks with potential nominees have gained pace despite earlier setbacks. Arsène Wenger is not thought to be under consideration.
